What is Low Iron Heat Soaked Tempered Laminated Glass?

Low Iron Heat Soaked Tempered Laminated Glass

10mm+10mm low iron heat soaked tempered laminated glass is a high-performance architectural safety glass made by laminating two pieces of 10mm low iron heat soaked tempered glass together with a PVB or SGP interlayer. Featuring ultra-low iron content, this glass delivers higher light transmission and pure color neutrality, presenting crystal-clear glass edges and a premium transparent visual effect.

This glass undergoes strict tempering and professional heat soak treatment before lamination. The heat soak process effectively minimizes spontaneous breakage caused by nickel sulphide inclusions, ensuring higher safety and long-term stability for high-rise buildings, curtain walls, skylights, and other structural glazing applications.

Why Do We Perform Heat Soak Testing?

Heat soak testing is a professional pretreatment process designed to reduce the spontaneous breakage risk of tempered glass.Tiny invisible nickel sulphide inclusions may remain inside float glass during production. After tempering, these particles may change volume slowly over time, which may lead to the possibility of spontaneous glass breakage.

To eliminate hidden dangers, tempered glass panels are placed in a heat soak furnace and kept at approximately 290°C for several hours. Unqualified glass with unstable nickel sulphide inclusions breaks during factory testing, avoiding accidental breakage in actual use.

For large curtain wall systems, overhead glazing, skylights, and high-rise facade projects, heat soaked tempered laminated glass provides reliable safety performance and stable long-term service.
